Myofascial Release, the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach®

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a whole body/mind approach to reduce pain, improve movement, increase function and restore energy.

Definition of (myo)fascia: Fascia is a slightly mobile connective tissue found throughout the body, from skin down into bone.  It supports and protects every body structure, down to the cell.  It also connects all of the body together in a 3-dimensional matrix.  Fascia creates separation between vessels, organs, bones and muscle.  It also creates space through which nerves, blood vessels and fluids must pass.

Fascia often becomes solidified and shortened due to trauma, surgery and/or inflammatory responses.  This creates fascial restrictions which can put up to 2000 lbs. of pressure per square inch on structures in the body.

MFR, the slow release of these pressures, is considered to be the ultimate therapy that is safe, gentle and consistently effective in producing lasting results.

Below is a video that shows amazing things that happen with the fascia under your skin.
